The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has launched a public awareness campaign using megaphones along the Brahmanbaria border to alert residents about illegal push-ins and unauthorised border crossings.
The BGB 60 Battalion initiated the campaign in the border areas yesterday (24 May), according to a press release issued by the force.
Through the announcements, residents living near the border are being warned about illegal push-ins from India and other unauthorised crossings.
The BGB has also strengthened patrol activities at the border, the release said.
Lieutenant Colonel SM Shariful Islam, commanding officer of the BGB 60 Battalion, said public awareness announcements are being carried out through the border outposts (BOPs) within his jurisdiction.
The campaign urges locals to remain vigilant and cooperate in maintaining border security, he said, adding that the BGB’s drives and intelligence activities to prevent illegal push-ins, human trafficking, drug smuggling and other cross-border crimes are underway.
