The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today (25 July) blocked an attempt by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) to push six people into Bangladesh through the Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah.
The attempt took place at around 5:10am near Border Pillar 55/MP in the Samanta Border Outpost (BOP) area under Maheshpur Battalion (58 BGB).
According to the BGB, members of the BSF’s Singamora Camp under the 59 BSF Battalion tried to send six unidentified people, including four men and two women, into Bangladesh through the border.
A BGB patrol team spotted the movement and immediately moved to the scene.
The troops stopped the group from crossing into Bangladesh and prevented the push-in attempt.
The six people remained about 20 yards inside Indian territory from the zero line at the time of reporting.
The BGB said it has informed the BSF and requested the necessary action.
The border force added that it remains on high alert to prevent illegal border crossings, push-ins and other cross-border crimes.
It said it continues regular patrols, surveillance and operational activities to protect the border and maintain peace and order in border areas.
