Beauty Pal named among Sylhet’s distinguished district-level teachers

Beauty Rani Pal, who recently drew nationwide attention after a video of her walking to a song went viral on Facebook, has been selected as one of Sylhet’s distinguished district-level teachers.

The district and divisional primary education offices selected seven teachers from among those shortlisted from different upazilas across Sylhet division.

Beauty Pal is among four teachers selected at the district level, while three others have been selected at the divisional level.

The information on the selected teachers was sent to the divisional office in a memorandum signed by Sylhet District Primary Education Officer Sakhawat Ershed on Monday (21 September).

Sakhawat Ershed said on Tuesday (23 September) that four teachers had been selected as distinguished teachers at the district level from among those shortlisted from all upazilas of the district.

Beauty Pal was selected alongside the other three district-level honourees: Md Jamal Uddin Laskar, headteacher of Jahiria Government Primary School in Sylhet Sadar upazila; Mosammat Nurjahan Begum, headteacher of Adampur Government Primary School in Osmaninagar upazila; and Adori Rani Das, assistant teacher at No 1 Chowdhury Bazar Government Primary School in Golapganj upazila.

At the divisional level, three teachers were selected from the four districts of Sylhet division.

They are Latifa Nilufer, headteacher of Giasnagar Government Primary School in Moulvibazar Sadar upazila; Dolly Rani Deb, headteacher of Gajnaiur Government Primary School in Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj; and Md Nurul Alam, headteacher of Noyaband Government Primary School in Madhyanagar upazila of Sunamganj.

A letter signed by AKM Saiful Hasan, acting divisional deputy director, on Tuesday (22 September) said the selection was completed at the primary school level ahead of World Teachers’ Day on 5 October.

Beauty Pal was also selected as the best headteacher in Sylhet district in 2026. She is a former student of the Department of English at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology.

In July, a video of Beauty Pal went viral on social media after she posted it on Facebook. She subsequently faced criticism and trolling from a section of social media users, with some even demanding action against her despite her being named the district’s best schoolteacher.

Her colleagues and people from different professions, however, stood by her. Teachers and professionals from across the country responded to the trolling by posting their own videos with songs on Facebook in solidarity with Beauty Pal.
