A three-day exhibition of Japanese reconditioned cars will begin in Dhaka on 5 November, allowing buyers to compare models, features and prices from different dealers in one place.
The Barvida Car Expo 2026, organised by the Bangladesh Reconditioned Vehicles Importers and Dealers Association (Barvida), will run until 7 November at the International Convention City Bashundhara in the capital.
Riaz Rahman, secretary general of Barvida, announced the event at a press conference at the association’s headquarters in Dhaka’s Bijoynagar today (31 October).
The exhibition will feature several popular Japanese car models, including the Toyota Prius, Corolla Cross, Harrier, Noah, Voxy and Alphard. Importers and dealers from different parts of the country will also take part in the event, Riaz said.
Visitors will be able to view vehicles from different dealers at a single venue and compare models, technology, features and prices before making a purchase decision, he added.
Speaking at the press conference, Riaz said Japanese vehicles played an important role in Bangladesh’s transport sector.
The reconditioned car trade also contributed to employment, investment, business activities and government revenue, he said.
On the restriction preventing the import of vehicles more than five years old, Riaz said a seven- or eight-year-old vehicle could, in many cases, be in better condition than one that was only three or four years old.
He called for a review of the vehicle import age-limit policy, arguing that safety and the actual condition of vehicles should receive greater consideration when determining their eligibility for import.
Arifuzzaman Russell, chief executive officer of event organiser Wizard Showbiz, said the exhibition would remain open daily from 11am to 8pm.
Entry will be free, but visitors will have to register to attend, he added.
