Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramis Sen called on Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir today (15 April) at the Secretariat to discuss expanding bilateral trade, increasing investment, and strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, Muktadir highlighted the long-standing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Türkiye, noting significant opportunities for further collaboration.
He emphasised the potential for joint ventures in several key sectors, including ready-made garments (RMG), textiles, agro-based industries and light engineering.
The minister specifically invited Turkish entrepreneurs to invest in leather and jute products, pointing out that Bangladesh’s lower production costs offer a competitive advantage for investors seeking quick returns.
In response, Ambassador Ramis Sen praised the rapid growth of the Bangladesh economy and the availability of skilled human resources, which he identified as major attractions for Turkish investors.
He particularly lauded Bangladesh’s eco-friendly jute products, noting their popularity in the Turkish market.
The ambassador also extended his congratulations to Khandaker Abdul Muktadir on his appointment as Commerce Minister following his victory in the national elections.
The meeting was also attended by Additional Secretary (Export) of the Ministry of Commerce Md Abdur Rahim Khan and other senior officials.
