Acting President Hafiz Uddin Ahmad will perform his official duties from Bangabhaban, but will reside at the speaker’s official residence within the Jatiya Sangsad complex.
BNP Media Cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan disclosed the information in a statement today (25 July).
He said special security measures have been strengthened since yesterday afternoon (24 July) at the speaker’s official residence and its surrounding areas within the parliament complex to ensure the acting president’s security.
Yesterday, President Mohammed Shahabuddin resigned on health grounds. In accordance with the Constitution, Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed assumed the responsibilities of acting president.
Sayrul said the acting president will place a wreath at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar at 11:30am tomorrow to pay tribute to the martyrs.
He will then visit the graves of former president Ziaur Rahman and former prime minister Khaleda Zia in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital at 12:30pm to pay respects and offer prayers.
