Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Adviser and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 14 others have been honoured with the newly introduced Aposhhin Deshnetri Begum Khaleda Zia Smriti Shornapadak 2026.
The other recipients are Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Iqbal Hassan Mahmood Tuku, Women and Children Affairs Adviser Abu Zafar Md Zahid Hossain, Adviser Ismail Jabiullah, State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque, Adviser Mahdi Amin, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha Managing Director and Chief Editor Kamal Uddin Shabuj, organiser of Mayer Daak Sanjida Islam Tuli, Bangladesh Cricket Board president Tamim Iqbal, litterateur Dr Mahbub Hasan, poet Abdul Hye Sikder, journalist Ashraf Kaiser, industrialist Abul Kashem Haider, businessman Abdul Haque and Fatema Begum, personal assistant to former prime minister Khaleda Zia.
According to a press release, the award was introduced by the New York-based Bangladesh Probashi Nagoric Committee, Inc in memory of former prime minister and former BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The organisation said the award will be presented every year to distinguished individuals for their contributions to the country.
