Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route resumed today (9 May) after remaining suspended for one hour due to a nor’wester, officials said.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Paturia Ghat Deputy General Manager Abdus Salam said ferry movement on the route was suspended at around 3:30am as a nor’wester swept across the Padma River area, posing risks to passengers and vehicles.
The authorities concerned decided to halt ferry operations temporarily to ensure safety during the storm, he added.
