BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that Bangladesh is beginning to rise again under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
“Our prime minister has earned a place in the hearts of the people of Bangladesh and continues to achieve victories one after another,” he said at a May Day rally organised by the Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal in front of BNP’s central office in the capital’s Naya Paltan today (1 May).
Fakhrul said workers remain in the worst condition, yet they have made the greatest sacrifices for change.
“In our anti-fascist movement, countless workers have given their lives,” he said.
He added: “We are very pleased that the government has taken the initiative to rehabilitate hawkers. We hope you [prime minister] will look into ensuring a minimum wage for workers. You will give importance to ensuring that workers’ children receive education, healthcare and other basic rights. You will take steps to improve their standard of living.”
Addressing the prime minister, he further said, “He is leading the entire country forward like a statesman. It is our duty to strengthen his hand. We will support him in unity. We must move this country forward.”
