At least 10 to 12 doors of the Cox’s Bazar-bound Parjotak Express were damaged today (19 April) after it collided with a fish-laden truck parked too close to the railway track in Chattogram’s Chandanaish.
The incident took place around 1:30pm in the Khanhat station area.
Confirming the matter, Chattogram Railway Police Station Officer-In-Charge Rafiqul Islam said police rushed to the scene after receiving information and assessed the situation.
He added that efforts are underway to identify the driver, and legal action will be taken accordingly.
According to Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury, station master of Dohazari Railway Station, the train had just crossed Patiya station and was heading towards Cox’s Bazar when it reached Khanhat area and brushed against the truck.
The impact partially tore off doors from several carriages, leaving 10 to 12 doors damaged.
However, no casualties were reported, and a major accident was narrowly avoided.
