The government has expanded the pilot phase of the Fuel Pass BD application beyond the capital, bringing several districts and metropolitan areas under its motorcycle registration system in a move aimed at strengthening fuel distribution management.
According to an official notice, motorcycle owners in Dhaka, Chandpur, Chattogram, Barishal, Khulna, Rajshahi and Mymensingh, including their respective metropolitan areas, are now eligible to register under the Fuel Pass BD system.
Alongside the geographic expansion, the pilot programme is also being widened within Dhaka.
From today (18 April), the system will be operational at 18 filling stations across the district, allowing registered motorcycles to access fuel through the app-based mechanism.
The Energy and Mineral Resources Division launched the QR code-based app earlier this month to make the country’s fuel supply system more transparent, efficient and modern.
Officials say the phased rollout is a part of a broader plan to gradually integrate the entire country into the Fuel Pass BD network.
Once fully implemented, the initiative is expected to create a centralised database of fuel consumers, improve transparency in fuel transactions and enhance regulatory control in the downstream petroleum sector.
The expansion marks a significant step in scaling up the digital fuel pass initiative, which authorities see as a key tool to streamline fuel sales, curb irregularities and ensure better monitoring of petroleum distribution at the retail level.
