“After Eid, many weddings take place. If anyone feels they need security while moving jewellery from a hotel or community centre to their home, they can contact the nearest police station, and we will ensure maximum security,” he says.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has announced that it will provide security for transporting jewellery from wedding venues following its assistance in transporting money and goods during Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr.
The announcement was made on Sunday (22 March) at a briefing held at the DMP Media Centre by Md Shafiqul Islam, chief of the Detective Branch (DB).
The DB chief said police had earlier advised the public that gold ornaments and other valuables could be kept at police stations or in bank vaults during Eid. “We will also provide security for transporting money or valuable jewellery.”
“After Eid, many weddings take place. If anyone feels they need security while moving jewellery from a hotel or community centre to their home, they can contact the nearest police station, and we will ensure maximum security,” he added.
Regarding overall security in the capital during Eid, when the city becomes relatively empty, the DB cheif said adequate security personnel had been deployed across the city. “Although some officers are on Eid leave, the police have arranged the required forces to maintain law and order.”
He also said no major incidents have been reported so far during Eid and hoped the remaining days would pass smoothly.
On DB patrols, Shafiqul Islam said 80 teams remain on patrol during the day and 40 teams at night, with two additional standby teams ready to respond immediately if anyone seeks assistance.
Replying to a question about bringing the killers of Hadi back to the country, he said the case is currently being handled by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and the CID and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are coordinating efforts for their repatriation.
