LPG operators assure govt of adequate supply amid rising demand.

LPG operators today (28 September) assured Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood Tuku that there is no shortage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the country’s market.
They gave the assurance while presenting and reviewing the LPG sector’s overall situation at a meeting organised by the ministry’s Energy and Mineral Resources Division, according to a press release.
The meeting, chaired by the minister, reviewed the country’s current LPG imports, stock and supply situation, market prices, and related issues.
According to data provided by a source at the National Board of Revenue (NBR), Bangladesh imported 157,760 tonnes of LPG in August and 118,742 tonnes between 1 and 22 September.
The data presented at the meeting showed that LPG supply and stock levels in the country are currently satisfactory.
The energy minister urged all concerned to ensure that consumers do not face supply shortages despite adequate stocks.
He also warned against hoarding LPG for illegal purposes and creating public hardship.
The operators assured the minister of their full cooperation in this regard.
The minister also heard about various difficulties faced by operators in running their businesses and instructed the Energy and Mineral Resources Division to take steps to resolve them quickly.
