The government has dismissed six senior police officers, including an additional DIG for being absent from work for more than 60 days without permission after the July Uprising, as a major punitive measures.
The Ministry of Home Affairs senior secretary Monjur Morshed Chowdhury signed six separate gazette notifications issued today (21 September).
A separate notification said that former police superintendent Arifur Rahman Mondal, former additional police deputy commissioner of Police for Secretariat Security Rajib Das, former additional DIG Mohammad Zayedul Alam, former ATU police superintendent Mohammad Chanowar Hossain, former additional police superintendent Palash Ranjan Dey and former Dhaka police superintendent Asaduzzaman have been dismissed.
The notification said that the order will come into effect immediately.
Each notification stated that, for remaining absent from their workplace without permission, every one of them was dismissed from service as a major penalty under the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules. The government had earlier moved to dismiss a larger group of police officers over alleged absconding.
