Train services between Rajshahi and other parts of the country resumed early today (21 September), following an overnight blockade and vandalism at Rajshahi Railway Station by students protesting the alleged assault of a university student by railway employees.
The Rajshahi station master said trains on all routes from Rajshahi, including services to Dhaka, Khulna and the northern districts, were operating normally from this morning.
The Titumir Express left Rajshahi for Chilahati at 6:20am, followed by the Bonolota Express for Dhaka at 7am.
However, the Madhumati Express, which was stranded at Harian Station during last night’s blockade, departed for Dhaka 20 minutes behind schedule this morning.
Western Railway has formed a four-member committee to investigate the incident involving the assault and attack on a student.
The committee comprises the divisional commercial officer of Pakshi, a medical officer, a Signal and Telecommunications Engineer, and the Pakshi commandant of the Railway Security Force.
