The government has abolished the special benefit for employees from the date the new pay scale came into effect.
According to the gazette, any special benefit paid to employees up to the date of publication of the gazette will be adjusted against salary arrears payable from 31 July.
However, employees who were on post-retirement leave on 1 July will continue to receive the special benefit at the rate applicable on 30 June until their post-retirement leave ends.
Bengali New Year allowance cut
The rate of the Bengali New Year allowance has also been reduced under the new pay scale.
Employees will now receive the allowance at 15% of their basic salary, down from the previous rate of 20%.
