The government has transferred 11 senior police officials, including the chiefs of the Special Branch (SB) and Tourist Police, to new postings. Six of the officials hold the rank of additional inspector general (Addl-IG), while five are deputy inspectors general (DIGs).
The Ministry of Home Affairs issued two separate notifications today (17 September), signed by Deputy Secretary Towsif Ahmed of the Police-1 branch on behalf of the president. The transfers will take immediate effect.
According to one notification, Tourist Police chief Addl-IG Md Mainul Hasan has been posted as principal of the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sarda, Rajshahi. The academy’s principal, Addl-IG GM Azizur Rahman, has been posted as the new Tourist Police chief.
SB chief Addl-IG Sardar Nurul Amin has been transferred to Police Headquarters, while DIG Md Kamrul Ahsan, who was recently promoted to Addl-IG, has been posted as the new SB chief.
Md Sayedur Rahman, director of the Central Police Hospital in Rajarbagh, and Dhaka Range DIG Md Iqbal Hossain, both recently promoted to Addl-IG, have been posted to Police Headquarters.
In the second notification, Police Headquarters DIG Md Rezaul Karim has been transferred to Khulna Range as DIG, while Khulna Range DIG Md Mostafizur Rahman has been transferred to Dhaka Range as DIG.
Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) DIG Mohammad Muslim has been transferred to the Central Police Hospital in Rajarbagh as director. SB DIG Mir Ashraf Ali has been transferred to Railway Police as DIG, while Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) DIG Siddiqi Tanzilur Rahman has been transferred to SB as DIG.
