Chattogram Customs to operate 24/7 to speed up import clearance

Chattogram Customs House will operate its customs assessment and clearance services round the clock, seven days a week, including weekly and public holidays, to expedite the release of imported goods and prevent disruptions to the country’s supply chain.

The decision was announced in a notice issued today (13 September).

Under the arrangement, customs assessment will remain operational 24/7, including on Fridays and Saturdays, Bangladesh’s weekly holidays, as well as government-declared public holidays.

Assistant Commissioner Sharif Mohammad Al Amin of Chattogram Customs House said keeping customs assessment operational on holidays would help prevent unnecessary delays in clearing import consignments.

“Import consignments can be cleared even on holidays, so there will be no disruption to the clearance process,” he said.

The move is expected to maintain the pace of import operations through Chattogram Port and ensure a steady flow of goods to different parts of the country.
