Information Minister Andaleeve Rahman Partho has said the media has played a significant role in bringing Bangladesh to its current stage of democracy.
He made the remarks today (10 September) at a programme marking the 31st founding anniversary of the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU).
“Today, where we are is because of the role of the media. The media deserves equal credit for whatever stage of democracy we are at,” Partho said.
He said journalists have played an important role in establishing democracy and bringing people’s voices to the forefront.
