Jake Reiner has lifted the lid on heart-wrenching details of his parents Michele Singer Reiner and Rob Reiner’s deaths.
For those unaware, Rob and his wife of 35 years, Michele, were murdered at their Los Angeles residence on December 14, 2025. Both husband and wife suffered many sharp-force injuries from stabbing. Notably, the late couple’s son, Nick Reiner, 32, was apprehended at the scene and later indicted on two counts of first-degree murder; however, he pleaded not guilty.
Opening up about his life since the tragic passing of his parents, Jake recorded an interview with KABC-TV’s Marc Cota-Robles, where he reminisced about a moment his sister Romy called him while he was attending a celebration of life for a friend at Union Station in Los Angeles.
The 35-year-old recalled, “Romy called me, and I screened it because I thought at the time, ‘I’m in the middle of something.’”
Romy called him “immediately” again, and it was the exact moment when he realized that “something was wrong.”
He shared, “Romy told me our dad was dead, and then she said, ‘I can’t find Mom.’ And I immediately went into shock. I need to get out of this train station, and I need to get to my parents’ house.”
Jack, who is a local news reporter, stated that reporting from crime scenes is a different experience, but finding your own family in the same situation was jolting.
He explained, “When it’s your crime scene, like a crime scene at your childhood home, [it’s] like the most surreal thing I’ve ever seen. It’s been eight months. It feels like eight years at the same time. And it also feels like 8 minutes. Because every moment that I wake up, I’m reminded of my reality.”
It is pertinent to mention that Jake Reiner did not answer questions regarding his brother, Nick, but he did mention that his late parents “had unconditional love for all three of us.”
