Kenny Rogers opened up about flirting with his late friend and longtime collaborator Dolly Parton.
For those unaware, Parton passed away at the age of 80 on August 25, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer. People from all walks of life are lamenting the sudden demise of the Jolene crooner.
On Thursday, August 27, Kenny Rogers’ 2014 interview with AXS TV resurfaced, in which he openly reflected on their close bond.
When the host Dan Rather asked him about his closeness with the late musician, he said, “We flirted with each other for 30 years, and it was much more electric.”
“I think once you consummate a relationship like that, it loses something,” the American singer-songwriter quipped, highlighting that he and Parton “both believed that theory.”
“So we did some massive flirting in front of the nation, but there was never anything more than that,” Rogers clarified.
The crooner of You Decorated My Life went on to share that when Parton decides to flirt, she knows flirting as well as music. I love her. If she thinks it, she says it. You know what’s on her mind.”
It is pertinent to mention that Kenny Rogers passed away due to natural causes at the age of 81 on March 20, 2020.
