Ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s energy policy is responsible for the power-related difficulties facing the country, State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishraque Hossain alleged today (11 August).
“The government has formulated policies aimed at freeing the energy sector from fascist influence and syndicate control. The policies will be placed before the parliament,” he made the remarks at a tree-planting programme at Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose Institution School and College and Bikrampur Bhuiyan Medical College campus in Munshiganj’s Sreenagar.
The state minister further alleged that some people who are now creating misinformation and confusion in the name of movements are also seeking to launch protests over energy-related issues.
Claiming that BNP and Chhatra Dal activists had faced attacks and repression at Dhaka University and other educational institutions, he said it was “ridiculous” that some people who were previously involved in Chhatra League politics are now claiming to be part of the current movements.
Students, teachers, political activists and people from different professions took part in the tree-planting programme.
