Travis Barker revisited alarming moments that followed the 2008 plane crash.
In a podcast of On Purpose with Jay Shetty, the Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker recalled the near-fatal plane crash that happened in 2008, nearly two decades ago.
Recalling the events before the performance travis opened up about how, the day before his concert, he was feeling unwilling to leave for the performance, which was scheduled on Friday, September 19.
Reflecting on the time when Travis told his manager Steve Gallo that he wanted to withdraw, the rock drummer revealed, “I was just so content with being home with the kiddos, and he’s like, ‘Bro, you can’t cancel this late.’ So, I ended up flying out there.”
Revisiting the event, the musician further explained how his younger daughter Alabama Barker was all emotional and pleaded with him to stay, “I say bye to Bama. She’s young at the time,” he said.
Adding, “She’s like, ‘Dad, don’t go!’ She’s bawling, and she doesn’t usually do that. She’s like, ‘The roof’s gonna come off,’ and I’m like, ‘What is she talking about?”
Travis’ private plane was scheduled to fly back on the way to Los Angeles. Along with Travis Barker, Adam Goldstein, Chris Baker, Charles, Sarah Lemmon, and James Bland were among those boarding the plane with him.
Travis described that the sight of the plane made him feel “awful,” and it looked like a “really small” plane.
Furthermore, the renowned drummer also shared the call he had with his father, Randy Barker, before takeoff: “[I] got on the plane but I knew something feels off.”
“I even told my dad, ‘If something happens to me, please make sure the kids are taken care of.’ I was saying way too much. All the signs were there,” he further shared.
