Retired FBI negotiator and supervisory agent, Jason Pack recently came forward for an interview, to detail ‘where it went wrong’ for Nancy Guthrie.
He shared his thoughts with Fox News Digital, during one of his interviews.
During that time he shared, bit by bit what the identity of the kidnapper might be. In his view the biggest possible reason for someone to stay silent for over 6 months is simply because they havn’t yet accepted the seven-figure reward by the family. Not only that, even when hints started piling up that Nancy might have long since passed, her family still offered the reward, hoping to ‘bring their mom home’.
He explained his own thought process for this hypothesis by saying, “that tells me the circle who knows is very small, and whoever is in it is bound by something stronger than money: blood, fear, shared exposure.” But “those bonds hold. Until they don’t.”
What is also pertinent to mention is that the full sum is upwards of $1.2 million but none of it has been claimed as of yet.
Regarding the influence of money, on this case specifically – not just human nature Mr Pack said, “money like that usually pulls somebody loose from almost any group. It hasn’t.”
But this ‘untouched’ point is also ‘another clue’ to the expert and he explained why by explaining, “in my experience, a meaningful share of cases like this break sideways. Somebody gets arrested for something unrelated and starts talking. A relationship ends badly. Somebody’s conscience finally outruns their fear.”
Moreover, “Six months is a long time to hold something this heavy, and the people around whoever did this have had six months to notice the change in them,” he also admitted.
Before concluding he also gave his own verdict on the identity of those involved and said, “when it went wrong, and I believe it went wrong fast, they had no plan for that either. Everything since reads to me like improvising around a failure, not professionals executing a plan.”
