Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir met five European ambassadors and senior diplomats stationed in Dhaka today (16 July) to discuss ways to further strengthen Bangladesh’s partnership with European countries across a range of sectors.
The meeting, held at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon, was attended by French Ambassador Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet, Spanish Ambassador Gabriel Sistiaga, British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke, European Union Chargé d’Affaires Baiba Zarina and German Chargé d’Affaires Anja Karst, reads a press release.
Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Ashik Chowdhury also joined the discussions.
According to the release, the discussions focused on the longstanding friendship between Bangladesh and its European partners, their growing economic partnership, and other issues of mutual interest.
The participants emphasised the need to further strengthen cooperation in trade and investment, defence, civil aviation, and other areas of shared interest.
Humayun Kabir expressed hope that Bangladesh’s relations with European countries would continue to deepen on the basis of mutual trust and shared interests.
The European diplomats, in turn, reaffirmed their commitment to expanding their respective countries’ multifaceted partnerships with Bangladesh.
