The bodies of four expatriate brothers who died inside a car in Oman, arrived in Bangladesh early today (20 May), and their janaza was held in their hometown Rangunia.
The deceased were identified as Md Rashed, Md Sahed, Md Siraj and Md Shahid, sons of the late Jamal Uddin of Banderazar Para village in Lalanagar Union.
The bodies arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport aboard a special Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight (BG-722) from Muscat at 5am, the victims’ brother Enamul Haque Enam confirmed.
After airport formalities, the bodies were transported in government-arranged freezer ambulances and reached their ancestral home in Banderazar Para village under Lalanagar union of Rangunia around 11am, where the namaz-e-janaza was held.
Chattogram Samity Oman President Md Yasin Chowdhury said all legal formalities were completed quickly with support from Omani authorities and the Bangladesh Embassy, while the government is covering transport costs and the Samity is bearing all other expenses.
Earlier, on May 13, the Royal Oman Police recovered the bodies of the four brothers from a car in Oman.
According to the post-mortem report, the victims reportedly died of suffocation caused by toxic gas from a car’s AC system in Al Miladdah, Oman.
