Police have arrested 15 activists of the banned Chhatra League from the Uttara residence of fugitive former Barguna-2 Awami League lawmaker Showkat Hasanur Rahman Rimon in Dhaka today (28 September).
Police from Uttara West Police Station arrested them from the residence in Sector 7 this afternoon, said Arifa Akhter Preeti, assistant commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Media and Public Relations Division.
The identities of those arrested were not immediately known, she added.
Rezaul Karim, deputy commissioner of DMP’s Uttara Division, told The Business Standard that the activists had gathered at Rimon’s residence to mark ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s birthday.
“They were reportedly planning to cut a cake,” he said.
