Leaders and activists of the banned Chhatra League and Jubo League, affiliates of the Awami League, held a procession in Chattogram yesterday (17 April) demanding the release of arrested members and the withdrawal of restrictions imposed on the party’s activities.
Later, police detained one individual, Mumin, who serves as organising secretary of Hathazari upazila Jubo League, in connection with the incident.
Although the incident did not come to light immediately, it surfaced later in the evening through a video circulated on social media.
The footage shows a group of approximately 40 to 50 individuals participating in the procession, chanting various slogans. Most participants are seen wearing red caps.
Hathazari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Zahidur Rahman said, “We are attempting to identify those involved in the procession through video analysis.
“One person has already been detained, and information regarding others is being verified.”
He added that appropriate legal action will be taken against those found to be involved.
