Clayface, a nemesis of Batman, has a standalone DC film released. Though the movie is set in Gotham, it includes a few references to the Caped Crusader.
But will he face the Dark Knight next? is the question posed to Clayface director James Watkins.
However, the filmmaker says he is uncertain, and DC co-head James Gunn is better suited to answer the question.
He told Variety, “That’s a question for James Gunn. I liked the standalone nature of it. I liked how it felt like it introduced a character.”
The Clayface Watkins sought to develop a character who can stand on his own instead of depending on another character for his story to continue.
“But I wasn’t trying to introduce the character to go. “OK, what next?” I was trying to introduce the character as a full meal in itself.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Watkins was asked about his so little reference to Batman in Clayface.
In his view, there are references to the Caped Crusader, adding, “I actually think there are lots of Easter eggs that I probably don’t even know about because the graphics department was always throwing in posters and stuff.”
Clayface is running in theatres.
