Former Awami League lawmaker and physician Prof Dr Pran Gopal Datta, who has remained out of public view since the 2024 July Uprising, is reportedly teaching at Tripura Santiniketan Medical College and Hospital in India.
A video published on the institution’s official YouTube channel on 24 June 2026 shows him teaching at the institution.
Indian news outlet Northeast Today on 5 February 2026 reported that India’s National Medical Commission granted him temporary permission to practise at the institution.
Following the fall of the Awami League government on 5 August 2024, Dr Pran Gopal Datta, former member of parliament from Cumilla-7, went into hiding. Several cases have since been filed against him in Bangladesh.
While his whereabouts had remained unclear for months, the recently published YouTube video indicates that he is currently in India.
