A Chattogram court has shown alleged top criminal Mobarak Hossain Emon, also known as David Emon, arrested in the murder case of Aftab Uddin Tahsin, who was shot dead in public in the city’s Chandgaon area in 2024.
Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Fahmida Sattar passed the order after a hearing today (25 August).
Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Deputy Commissioner (Prosecution) Mohammad Hasan Iqbal Chowdhury confirmed the matter.
He said police had filed an application seeking to show David Emon arrested in the 2024 murder case of Tahsin. The court granted the application following the hearing.
The police official said David Emon is accused in seven cases filed with CMP. Applications will be submitted sequentially to show him arrested in those cases, he added.
According to court sources, Tahsin was shot dead in public in the Shamsher Para area of Chandgaon around 4:30pm on 21 September 2024.
Following the incident, Tahsin’s father, Md Musa, filed a case against five people, including alleged top terrorist Sajjad Hossain. The other accused are Sajjad’s associates Md Hasan, Mohammad, Khorshed, also known as Khalato Bhai Khorshed, and Md Helal.
According to the case documents, Tahsin was involved in the brick and sand business and stored materials for his business in the Udupara area of Shamsher Para.
On the day of the incident, a truck carrying sand arrived in the area around 4:15pm. Tahsin went there to store the sand.
Shortly afterwards, Sajjad Hossain and his associates allegedly arrived at the scene in a microbus and opened fire on Tahsin before fleeing.
