Judy Greer is recalling her time with Matthew McConaughey on the set of The Wedding Planner.
For those unaware, The Wedding Planner, a 2001 romantic comedy film, is about a wedding planner, Mary Fiore (played by Jennifer Lopez), who starts believing that she has found true love when she is rescued by the handsome McConaughey’s character, Steve Edison but things take a dark turn when she finds out that he is her client’s fiancé.
Greer, who played the supporting role of Penny Nicholson in the movie, reminisced about his time on the set with McConaughey in a talk with Entertainment Tonight.
She shared, “The thing I remember about that movie was how lovely [he] was. I loved seeing him in hair and makeup every morning, ’cause he had, like, pajamas on and a Yerba Mate.”
“I haven’t worked with him since, but I have a feeling not much has changed,” the Dead of Winter actress said.
Greer, who already had a few acting gigs behind him back then, revealed that she was “so broke” at that time that she could not get her car out of a valet service her first time meeting the cast.
Thanks to McConaughey, who came to the rescue, as she quipped, “Before we started shooting, we did a table read, and we did it at the Roosevelt Hotel [in New York City], and I valeted my car. I didn’t know any better.”
It is pertinent to mention that The Long Walk star “didn’t have enough money” when she received her car at the end of the day and called her friend, Sean Gunn, to help.
“Matthew McConaughey overheard me and gave me $20. I was so mortified, but also, like, ‘My hero,’” Judy Greer revealed.
