Taylor Swift once again made history by becoming the youngest-ever inductee in the history of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
The 36-year-old Grammy winner was inducted by Brad Paisley after Lainey Wilson gave a stripped down performance on Love Story during the annual ceremony at Music City Center in Nashville, on Monday.
During her acceptance speech Taylor expressed her appreciation saying, “One thing that I did learn is that songwriters, although they possess a superhuman ability to understand and interpret the human condition and like insane levels of empathy, they are just people too, and they are people who are in a lot of ways raised me and guided me through formative years.”
The Opalite hitmaker continued, “You know, I’ve been very fortunate. I’ve gotten to genre-hop and travel the world and write with so many different people and in so many different ways.”
“And the only reason that I’ve been able to have that kind of dexterity in my creative process is because of the fundamentals and the foundation that I learned here in Nashville, and I never forget that for a single second. I tell every single person I know about what we have here, and I’m so incredibly honored to be inducted into this sacred club, especially at this point in my life.”
For the event Taylor opted to wear a burgundy velvet mini dress with orange and green embroidery.
While saying thanks to Lainey for her performance, Taylor poked fun at Paisley, her former tourmate.
“We’ve been estranged since 2007,” she told the audience. “He took a tour prank too far, filled my entire tour bus with live crickets, thousands of them. For months I couldn’t sleep. All night I considered buying a pet lizard to eradicate the problem.”
The induction marked Taylor’s second Hall of Fame honor as back in June, she was also inducted into the New York-based Songwriters Hall of Fame.
