Tahini and Chocolate Chunk Cake
In this cake, developed by the NYT Cooking contributor Samantha Seneviratne, tahini flavors a one-bowl yellow cake, giving it a pillowy texture and nutty flavor. Swirled with chocolate, it’s reminiscent of your favorite halvah candy.

This tahini and chocolate chunk cake is one of my newer cakes, but it’s already one of my absolute favorites. The texture is out of this world. Not only does it have a little bit of oil in it to keep it nice and soft, but the tahini sort of works the same way that butter would with a ton of roasted, toasted sesame flavor. It’s so nice. This cake also has little bits of sesame seeds in there and lots of chocolate chunks. I like to use semi-sweet chocolate here because when I tried it with bittersweet, it was just a little bit too sour. So go for semi-sweet chocolate, or even milk chocolate would be delicious.
