The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education has ordered the temporary suspension of the head teacher of Nukali Bahumukhi High School in Shahzadpur upazila of Sirajganj and directed that his Monthly Pay Order (MPO) benefits be suspended after an allegedly objectionable video of him went viral on social media.
The order was issued today (4 July) by the directorate’s Private Secondary Education Wing. According to the order, a video of head teacher Md Ruhul Amin has been circulating widely on social media since 2 July.
The directorate said the footage allegedly showed him in an intoxicated state, engaging in inappropriate behaviour and making offensive remarks.
The directorate said such “objectionable, unethical and unlawful” conduct had seriously undermined the dignity of the teaching profession and sparked widespread outrage among students, parents and the public.
The order stated that the alleged conduct constitutes serious misconduct and a breach of discipline under the Recognised Non-Government Secondary School Teachers’ Service Conditions Regulations, 1979.
Accordingly, the directorate instructed that Ruhul Amin be placed under immediate temporary suspension. It also ordered that his MPO payments remain suspended until further notice under Section 18.1(g) of the Manpower Structure and MPO Policy, 2025.
The directorate requested its deputy director (General Administration) to take the necessary steps to suspend the MPO benefits, while asking the president of the managing committee of Nukali Bahumukhi High School to implement the temporary suspension.
Copies of the order have been sent to the secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education, the chairman of the Rajshahi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, and other relevant officials
