Her release follows a series of court rulings that upheld bail in multiple cases linked to the July uprising, removing the last legal hurdle to her walkout from prison.

Former Narayanganj City Corporation mayor Selina Hayat Ivy was released from Kashimpur Central Women’s Prison this night (3 June) following a series of court orders granting her bail in multiple cases.
Shirin Akter, superintendent of Kashimpur Central Women’s Prison, confirmed that Ivy was released at around 10:10pm after the completion of all necessary document verification procedures, according to media reports.
Her release comes after the Supreme Court on 17 May upheld High Court orders granting her ad-interim bail in two murder cases filed over incidents linked to the July Uprising.
Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division Justice Md Rezaul Haque passed a “no order” on two state petitions seeking to stay the High Court’s bail orders issued on 30 April.
The latest development removed the remaining legal obstacles to Ivy’s release, as the Appellate Division had earlier upheld High Court bail orders in 10 other cases against her.
With the apex court’s decision, Ivy became eligible for release from prison, paving the way for her exit from Kashimpur jail this night.
