Samantha Mumba shared the journey of her career transformation.
In an interview with People magazine while reflecting on her current life, the Gotta Tell You hitmaker revealed that it inspires her in many ways, and now she wants her music to reflect who she is today, saying, “It’s just one of those times where I feel inspired and I feel like I have stuff I want to sing and write about. I think I’m at a point now where it’s like, ‘It’s time for me to make music that resonates with who I am today and where I am today.’ And I’m really trying to just figure out and hone in what that looks like.”
“And we’re supposed to change and evolve and continue doing all these things in life. So hopefully people who enjoyed my music way, way back when, they’ll be interested and open to what I’m kind of inspired to do now,” she added.
Recalling the time when the Irish singer and actress first joined the TV series Harry Wild as Paula Kenny in 2023 for its second season, Samantha said, “It’s such a special, funny little show. I came into the show on season two and we’re on our fifth season now. It’s just been a really special thing to work on. And it has a really strong audience and fan core. So it’s been great.”
As she started working at a really young age, Samantha said, “It’s weird because I signed my deal at 15, and then with hindsight, 15 is such a young age to decide what you want to do for the rest of your life. It’s just so young.”
Despite her creative passions, the Harry Wild actress has also stepped into the business world, running a Los Angeles-based security company with her husband, Torray Scales. She added, “For the longest time, I almost felt like, ‘That’s all I can do.’ And then as I get older, I’m like, ‘No, wait, I want to have multiple streams of income. I want my money working for me. I want to be making money while I’m sleeping,’ all these different things.”
Adding, “It’s been really cool just getting to explore that and realize that I don’t have to just be a singer or just be an actor or just be in the industry. I can do so many different things and plan on doing so many different things on top of that as well. So I feel like that’s kind of where I’m at at the moment, just really realizing that I don’t have to just stick to what I decided at 15 and that’d be the only thing I can do.”
“I love the rigidness and how it’s completely different from anything else I do in my creative world,” the singer-actress declared as she compared the creative work with her business venture.
