Film actor Mohammad Ashraful Haque, popularly known as Don, has been arrested in the murder case filed over the death of popular actor Salman Shah.
Police arrested Don at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport today (9 August) while he was preparing to travel to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.
Airport Police Station Officer-in-Charge Kamrul Hasan told The Business Standard that Don is subject to a travel ban in connection with the murder case.
After immigration authorities alerted the police, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) took him into custody.
CID Dhaka Metro West Special Police Superintendent Golam Benjir also confirmed Don’s arrest.
The CID confirmed that Don was later sent to court.
Salman Shah died at his residence in Eskaton, Dhaka, on 6 September 1996.
His death was initially treated as a suicide, but a murder case was later filed.
Several individuals have been named during different stages of the investigation.
