Russell Brand has finally revealed where he stands with ex-wife Katy Perry 23 years after their shocking split.
During an appearance on the latest episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, the 50-year-old actor admitted that he hasn’t been in touch with the pop sensation since the two called it quits.
When asked if he and Katy keep in touch considering “she said you never contacted her again after you sent her a note saying you wanted a divorce.”
The comedian responded, “Look, that is true.”
However, Russell added that he’s stay in touch with her father, Keith, and her mother, Mary, “because they’re good Christian folks.”
“And I must say I feel a good deal of sympathy with the recent allegations around Katy,” the Pose actor said, as per In Touch weekly.
Russell then confessed that he “didn’t handle” marriage to Katy “very well.”
“I pushed to get married early because I felt inadequate and insecure and like I wasn’t enough — and that if I was married to her, I would somehow be a better person and more important,” he said.
“And that put her under an unnecessary amount of pressure and strain,” added Russel.
For those unversed, Russell and Katy’s marriage lasted from 2010 to 2012.
