BNP Acting Secretary General and Prime Minister’s Adviser Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today (10 October) emphasised that encouraging young people to ask questions is fundamental to building an innovative society and driving national development.
He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at “Idea Fest-2025”, organised by the Ziaur Rahman Foundation at the Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium in the Social Science Faculty building of Dhaka University.
Rizvi said the practice of questioning serves as the bedrock of knowledge, science and philosophy.
He said cultivating inquisitive minds among students and young people helps identify societal crises and generates valuable ideas for formulating effective state policies.
Urging young people not to limit themselves solely to social media, he encouraged them to engage in constructive discussions and debates on social issues with their peers, drawing parallels with similar calls made by global leaders.
Highlighting the humanitarian and social welfare activities of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation, Rizvi praised the organisation’s resilience in continuing its work.
He recalled how the organisation continued its initiatives, such as organising virtual science exhibitions and managing public health efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic and dengue outbreaks, even under severe restrictions and in challenging political environments.
Ziaur Rahman Foundation Executive Director Dr Farhad Halim Donar, Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr ABM Obaidul Islam, Central University Vice-Chancellor Prof Lutfor Rahman, prominent academics and other distinguished guests were also present.
