A constable was killed after a River Police patrol vessel capsized during a nighttime anti-robbery operation in Narayanganj yesterday (7 May).
According to River Police Officer-in-Charge Rokibuzzaman, Sub-Inspector Mokbul Hossain and four constables from the Kolagachia River Police outpost in Bandar were conducting a nighttime patrol to prevent robbery on the river when their patrol vessel collided with a bulkhead and overturned.
The accident took place around 10:30pm near the Shah Cement Factory area at the confluence of the Dhaleshwari and Shitalakkhya rivers.
The deceased was identified as Constable Md Mohsin Sardar. He hailed from Gopalpur village under Paikgachha police station in Khulna district and was the son of the late Abdul Karim Sardar.
He was rescued and taken to Narayanganj Victoria General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
