In the middle of the investigation involving Nancy Guthrie, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department revealed over twelve hours ago that there are some human remains that were found in the general vicinity.
For those unversed with the update as a whole, its been released on X and reads as follows, “PCSD Search & Rescue deputies are responding to reports of human remains found in a desert area near West Ajo Way and South La Cholla Boulevard. The remains appear to have been at the location for an extended period of time.”
However, the part that threw fans for a loop, and simultaneously made sure no one was pinning this in connection to Nancy Guthrie, they added in the next paragraph, “at this time, there is no indication they are connected to the Nancy Guthrie investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.”
Why Is the Pima County Sure its Not Nancy Guthrie?
However, as for why its not connected, at least in the eyes of investigators is because the Pima County’s Office’s Medical Examiner handles about 4,500 death investigations each year due to the nature of the terrain.
There are many who are said to perish due to the harsh conditions after they cross the border.
According to Newsweek the chief medical examiner, Greg Hess even spoke about about the entire thing back in 2024 and explained, “we have more unidentified remains than other places, because of just the nature of the environment. It’s really hot and dry and people die outside, and their remains are not protected from the environment. They’ll decompose and become skeletal remains relatively quickly.”
