Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting, could begin on 8 February 2027, with Eid-ul-Fitr expected on 9 or 10 March, depending on the length of the lunar month.
The dates are based on astronomical calculations reported by Gulf News, citing predictions by astronomers in the United Arab Emirates. The final dates will depend on the sighting of the moon.
Ibrahim Al Jarwan, chairman of the board of the Emirates Astronomical Society and a member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences, said four more lunar months of the Islamic calendar would pass before the expected start of Ramadan.
If the fasting month lasts 29 days, Eid-ul-Fitr could fall on 9 March. If it lasts 30 days, the festival could be celebrated on 10 March.
Authorities will determine the official dates for the beginning of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr based on the moon sighting.
