The government has ensured proper dengue treatment at every upazila health complex across the country, Health and Family Welfare State Minister MA Muhit said today (9 October), as 2,000 doctors received training over the past month to prepare for the mosquito-borne disease.
He made the remarks as chief guest at a discussion meeting at Shahjad Upazila Health Complex in Sirajganj.
Muhit said the government was working to restore public confidence in state-run healthcare services after taking office, with an emphasis on improving treatment and patient care.
The state minister said 2,000 doctors nationwide had been trained over the past month as part of preparations to tackle dengue.
He urged people to remain vigilant about dengue prevention and keep their homes and surrounding areas clean.
Muhit warned that non-communicable diseases remained a major health challenge, accounting for more than 72% of deaths in the country, with heart disease and stroke responsible for a significant share.
Addressing doctors, he called for compassionate treatment, urging them to care for every patient as they would a member of their own family.
He said explaining diagnoses and treatment procedures in simple language could reduce misunderstandings and strengthen trust between doctors and patients.
The minister stressed that empathy and humane behaviour were as important as medical knowledge in delivering quality healthcare.
Earlier, Muhit inaugurated a breastfeeding corner at Shahjad Upazila Health Complex. Doctors, nurses and other hospital staff attended the event.
