Prince William is currently battling the impossible, between his own wife and kids as well as the Firm, where his father stands. The reason for this is the Sussexes.
For those unversed, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle arrived in the UK last month, which marks barely four months till Christmas, one of the Royal Family’s biggest holidays.
However, with rumours promising a Sandringham Christmas for the tiny Sussex tots, it seems the heir is ready to rescind his presence to avoid an ‘awkward’ sit through.
A source even came forward to explain what the entire fiasco hinges on, at its core and said, “Sandringham is such an established tradition that it would be absolutely unprecedented for William to deliberately skip the festivities, particularly given everything Charles is going through with his health.”
Currently “a lot of people are in disbelief that he would really take it that far” and “the hope is that this is just William’s way of trying to exert some control and potentially put a block on Harry and Meghan’s invitation before anything is finalised,” the source admitted.
However it seems this might not be as straight forward because, he “swears he’s deadly serious,” the insider warns.
“As far as William is concerned, there’s far more bad blood now, not less, so the idea that he should suddenly be able to sit around a Christmas table and pretend everything is fine is totally unrealistic.” What’s worse is that he says he’s “entitled to decide whether he wants to participate,” and, at this point, he’s “still adamant that he’s not willing to sit there making nice with Harry when the relationship has become so damaged.”
Before signing off from the whole thing the insider noted, “he insists this isn’t a case of him issuing an ultimatum to his father. He says he’s trying to keep his side of the street clean and quietly make a contingency plan rather than have some enormous showdown over who the King invites to Christmas.”
