Police today (12 September) recovered the six-piece dismembered body of an unidentified man from three plastic bags beside a paddy field in Madhukhali, Faridpur.
The body parts were recovered around 10am from the roadside in Boalia village under Raipur union of the upazila.
According to police and local sources, pedestrians spotted three tied plastic bags at the base of a palm tree beside a paddy field belonging to Lavelu Mallik and Ishaq Miah, about 200 yards ahead of Boalia Bus Stand on the Faridpur-bound road.
Locals called the national emergency service 999 and informed police as the bags looked suspicious.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Masuduzzaman of the Madhukhali-Boalmari-Alphadanga Circle and SI Masudur Rahman of Madhukhali Police Station, along with police personnel, arrived at the scene.
The sacks were later opened in the presence of locals, revealing six severed body parts of a man believed to be around 40 years old. Police could not immediately identify the deceased.
Police prepared an inquest report at the scene before sending the body to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Masuduzzaman said police were working to establish the identity of the deceased and uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.
He said if the identity remains unknown after the autopsy, necessary measures will be taken to hand over the body to Anjuman Mufidul Islam for burial according to religious rites.
Legal procedures regarding the incident are underway.
