Three police personnel and two accused were injured after a police pickup carrying the accused lost control and fell into a ditch in Monipur area of Bijoynagar upazila in Brahmanbaria today (9 October).
The accident occurred this afternoon while the vehicle was taking the two accused from Bijoynagar Police Station to the district court, police said.
The injured police personnel are Constable Md Mostafa, 30, Constable Md Jumman, 30, and pickup driver Nayek Tofayel Ahmed, 42. The two accused are Mohon Mia, 45, and Rujina Begum, 35. Both are residents of Bijoynagar upazila.
Brahmanbaria additional superintendent of police (Administration and Finance) Arafatul Islam said the pickup lost control and plunged into the ditch while travelling to the district court.
“The injured were rescued and taken to Brahmanbaria District Sadar Hospital for treatment. Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident,” he added.
