Police detained an aide to Jatiya Ganatantrik Party (Jagpa) spokesperson Rashed Prodhan during an attack on BNP protesters outside his residence today (17 April).
The protest follows recent remarks by Rashed Prodhan during a television talk show, in which he allegedly made offensive comments about the prime minister.
Mohammadpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mezbah Uddin told The Business Standard that the demonstration took place in front of Rashed’s residence in Mohammadpur, where agitated BNP activists chanted slogans against him.
“At one point, Rashed Prodhan’s personal secretary Jony Nandi attempted to attack them with a brick. Police then took him into custody,” he said.
He added that Jony Nandi is currently being held at the police station, and legal action will be taken based on complaints received.
