Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman arrived at the State Guest House, Jamuna, this evening (20 July) to attend a reception and dinner with senior leaders of the political parties and alliances that participated in the joint anti-government movement.
Tarique entered the venue at around 7:30pm, where invited leaders had already begun arriving.
The meeting was earlier confirmed by the Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon and BNP Media Cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan.
They said the event was organised in honour of the leaders of the parties that joined the anti-government movement.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office sources, around 150 senior leaders from the alliance parties have been invited to the event. Members of the BNP Standing Committee are also attending alongside the prime minister and leaders of the allied parties.
This is the first formal meeting between Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and the top leaders of the alliance partners since the election and formation of the government.
Party sources said the gathering aims to strengthen relations among the allies, review the country’s current political situation, and discuss coordinated implementation of the BNP’s 31-point state reform agenda.
As of filing this report, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was exchanging greetings with the invited alliance leaders at the Jamuna premises.
