The Ministry of Public Administration has removed the names and the identification numbers of government officials from its website, making information about their postings and current workplaces unavailable to the public.
The information was removed without any announcement or explanation.
Mohammad Manirul Islam, additional secretary of (CPT wing) the ministry, told TBS this night (27 August) that the website was being upgraded and information on 1.4 million government employees was being added to a new database.
“After the data is incorporated and the website is restructured, everyone will be able to access the information as before,” he said.
Asked what kind of upgrade was being carried out, he said, “It’s technical. Come to the office, and I’ll explain it then.”
Previously, the website published posting information for more than 6,000 BCS administration cadre officials, including contract-based and Officer on Special Duty officials.
The website currently lists names, mobile numbers and email addresses of more than 1,000 focal-point officials from different ministries and divisions, who oversee respective government websites.
